Family Modelling Agency: FAQ’s
written by

As the UK's leading family modelling agency, we naturally see lots of families wanting to apply to join our books. If you are thinking of applying as a model family but want to learn more before you do, keep reading as we answer some FAQ's.
HOW DO WE APPLY AS A FAMILY?
To apply for representation as a family, fill out our application form which you can find here. Apply using your family name and attach images and snapshots of all of you. Please state in the notes section, all the names and ages of the family applying, where you are based and if you have any experience.
HOW WILL WE KNOW IF OUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL?
However much we would love to reply to everyone that applies to our family modelling agency, we do receive hundreds of applications on a weekly basis and therefore we can only contact you if we are interested in taking your application further. Please allow 3-4 weeks for applications to be reviewed, unfortunately, if you have not been contacted after 4 weeks please assume that on this occasion your application has not been successful.
If you do hear from us then the next steps will be to come in and meet us - this is where our bookers can learn a little bit more about you as a family and take a few shots so that we can get a feel for how you all work in front of the camera and produce some shots to use to promote you to our clients.
ARE THERE ANY UP-FRONT FEES?
There are no upfront fees to join Sandra Reynolds. There is a yearly nominal fee of £60+VAT (£72) which is added to your family's account on 1st January each year which covers the cost of producing and updating your SR publicity material including photographs, website page, cards and update shots when you need them. You do not pay this up-front, it is deducted from your first job each year. Should you not book any jobs, this fee would not be chargeable.
DO YOU ONLY REPRESENT FAMILIES WHO ARE BASED IN LONDON?
Whilst a lot of the jobs and castings that we send our family models to are in London, it isn’t compulsory for you to live there as long as you are willing to travel. As well as in London, we book jobs all over the UK and abroad.
DO CHILDREN STILL NEED TO BE LICENCED ON FAMILY JOBS?
Yes, whenever a child still of compulsory school age is being considered for a job, whether individually or as part of a family, their local authority needs to issue a Child Performance Licence in order for them to gbe booked. Part of the licence is to receive consent from the child’s school for their absence should the shoot fall during term time and require them to have time off. This is a Government requirement that is put in place to ensure the safety of the child is a priority as well as protecting them by limiting the number of hours they are on set and the number of breaks they have during this time.
Children who have reached the end of their statutory education do not require a licence. You can read more about licencing on our website here.
DO WE NEED TO HAVE PROFESSIONAL PICTURES TO APPLY??
No, these are not necessary. If you do have professional family shots then that's great, however, in the initial stages of the application process snapshots taken on a phone in natural light are perfect for us to assess your suitability. Try to submit shots with minimal backgrounds that show you all clearly with minimal makeup and natural hair. One close-up, one full length shot and a smiley shot is all we need. Please note these images should be low resolution (under 1MB) in order for the application to submit. To find out more about the application process and for more hints visit this blog post.
We will take a selection of photos at the new face casting day which will be used to promote your family if you are offered a place on the books.
WHAT KIND OF JOBS DO YOU WORK ON AND WHAT WILL WE GET PAID?
Sandra Reynolds Juniors works on all kinds of amazing filming and photography briefs, so our clients vary massively on a daily basis. One job could be a lovely lifestyle shoot for a small local brand which pays a few hundred pounds, the next a fantastic toy commercial with a worldwide buyout which could be a few thousand pounds. We can never predict how our days will pan out, and that’s what we love most about the industry! We are fortunate enough to work with some lovely clients; Lego, Nintendo, Orchard Toys, Doc Martens, Sainsbury’s, Start Rite and Ford to name just a few.
Of course, all clients have different budgets for their projects and fees depend upon various things such as where the pictures will be used and for how long, but here at SRJ we will always try our best to accommodate both ends of the scale. The payment you will receive is completely dependent upon these budgets, but you will always be advised of the fee clear to you by your booker prior to you confirming your availability for the job.
